Twitter has once again started the verification process. Users can send a verification request to have a blue tick on their Twitter account. Let us tell you about this complete news.
How your Twitter will be verified on Twitter?
The Twitter verification process i.e. the process of getting a blue badge on the Twitter account has started once again. Twitter has announced that it has once again started accepting verification requests from users. Twitter had temporarily stopped accepting verification requests a few days ago as the company had to make some improvements in it.
In July 2021, Twitter mistakenly verified some fake accounts as well. The company had also accepted this mistake. The company said in a statement to Daily Dot that: We had accidentally verified the accounts of some users with fake accounts. We have now permanently suspended the fake accounts and removed their blue badges as per our manipulation and spam policy.” So, this was also one of the reasons why the company had put its verification process on hold for some time.
Twitter verification resumed
Now, the micro-blogging site is again starting the verification process. A blue badge on Twitter tells people that the account is for the public internet and is authenticated. The company says that according to Twitter, to get the account verified and blue tick, it is necessary for your account to be authentic i.e. real, notable i.e. famous, and active.
6 notable categories
- Companies, brands, and organizations
- News organizations and journalists
- Sports and Gaming
- Activists, Organizers, and Other Influential People
Rules to get Blue Tick
Under Notable, your account must be in any one of these 6 categories. This time around, Twitter has said that it will add some more categories to Notable by the end of this year. Apart from this, Active means that your Twitter account should be continuously active for the last 6 months. Your complete information like name, number, email address, profile picture should be updated. Apart from this, your account should not have been banned for 12 hours or 7 days in the last year due to a violation of Twitter’s rules.
To send a Twitter verification request, you have to go to the settings of your Twitter account and select Request Verification, under which there are 6 categories of Notable. One has to choose one of them. However, now Twitter has put a stop to this process because a lot of requests have come into its backlog.
