Rolls-Royce announces its first electric vehicle

The brand has already declassified the appearance of its first luxury car with an electric motor in the renderings. Rolls-Royce, the luxury car division of BMW AG, is also heading for electrification. On Wednesday, September 29, the brand announced the launch of its first electric car.

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars CEO Torsten Müller-Ötvös has announced the start of road testing of a new product for itself, which, according to the company, will revolutionize the electric vehicle market. According to the head of the brand, it will be the first and best luxury supercar with an electric motor.

“I am proud to announce that Rolls-Royce is embarking on a road test program for an exciting new product. This is not a prototype. This is a real car, it will be tested in full view and our customers will receive their first cars in the fourth quarter of 2023. With this new product, we have marked our ability to fully electrify our entire range by 2030. By that time, Rolls-Royce will no longer be involved in the production or sale of any products using internal combustion engines, ”said the head of the brand, calling the premiere a historic event.

Rolls-Royce’s first production electric car was named Specter. It is built on Rolls-Royce’s patented aluminum architecture, which was first introduced in 2017 alongside the new Phantom. Before going into production, the electric car will undergo a series of tests on all four continents in different climatic conditions. The test is expected to span more than 2.5 million kilometers, which the company says equals more than 400 years of operation. Rolls-Royce has yet to reveal the specifications and other features of its first electric model. Many details of the interior and exterior of the car are still unknown.
